How to Cruise Through Embarkation Like a Pro
Here are our tips for your arrival!
- Driving? Reserve your cruise parking ahead of time.
- Hate waiting in long lines?
- Do arrive at your assigned boarding time.
- Don’t arrive before 10 a.m.
- Have your ride drop you off beyond the gate, on the pier.
- If you need mobility assistance, contact your cruise line and arrange for assistance before you leave home.
- Before packing, review the list of prohibited items on your cruise line’s website.
- Before arriving, print and staple your luggage tag on your luggage.
- Bring your picture ID, ship boarding document, and passport or birth certificate.
- You need these to enter the cruise ship terminal and cruise check-in.
- Passports are required for Mexico cruises.

Tip 2: Timing Matters: Confirm Your Assigned Embarkation Time
When it comes to cruise adventures, timing matters. For your comfort and convenience, make sure you confirm your assigned embarkation and departure time with your cruise line.
Here are a couple of easy to remember timing tips to avoid a long wait:
- Don’t arrive before 10 a.m.
- Do arrive at your assigned boarding time
FYI: If you find yourself at the cruise terminals a little early, don’t worry! Take a side quest with a stroll along the Embarcadero!
Tip 3: Avoid the Line Outside, Get Dropped Off on the Pier
Looking to avoid a line? The cruise terminals offer convenient drop-off locations for guests whether arriving by ride share, taxi, shuttle or personal vehicle. Simply navigate onto the pier to drop off.
