Community Invited to Enjoy a Family-fun Day at César Chávez Park

The Port of San Diego invites the community to attend “A Day at the Park: A Port Experiences Series” event at César Chávez Park. The free family-friendly event is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

“Our vibrant waterfront reflects the spirit of our community and the parks and public spaces that bring us together,” said Port Chair Danielle Moore, one of San Diego’s appointees to the Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners. “Events like this offer an opportunity to connect, explore San Diego Bay, and celebrate our shared culture and history through music, art, and food.”

“A Day at the Park” is a Port-sponsored multicultural celebration featuring local performers, artists, food vendors, kid-friendly activities and more. Last year, the inaugural event series welcomed hundreds of visitors and residents to the San Diego Bay waterfront.

The “A Day at the Park” event series is sponsored under the Port of San Diego’s Tidelands Activation Program (TAP) in the Expanded Access Events category, which aims to improve public access to under-activated Port parks via a Port-funded and Port-branded community event. TAP is an annual grant program that sponsors large and small events that engage the community and inspire visitors to enjoy San Diego Bay.

The Port has championed continuous improvements to César Chávez Park since its opening in 1990, including planting new trees, restoring the park’s recreational field, and adding lighting, picnic tables and benches. Last month, the Port held a community open house to discuss a project that will make further improvements to César Chávez Park and continue to enhance the community experience along the Barrio Logan waterfront.
