Homage to the Community on the Cruise Terminals
Cruise and the San Diego Region
San Diego is the gateway to the world – literally! As California’s third busiest cruise port, we are the closest West Coast cruise port to Mexico, making it the perfect location to start voyages to Ensenada, the Mexican Riveria, and beyond. A 2023 Economic Analysis Study found that the cruise industry has an $184 million annual economic impact to our region and provides nearly 500 jobs.
We have two cruise ship terminals - B Street and Broadway Piers - conveniently located in the heart of the city providing visitors and guests easy access for cruise passengers to explore the waterfront and visit regional attractions. Each of our piers have notable features that make them unique, one of which is the presence of public art.
The Trompe l’oeil Mural: A Peek Look into the Welcoming Mural
Located along the southeast corner of our B Street Cruise Ship Terminal is a stylish piece by artist Joshua Winer. At first glance, the mural itself may seem like an unexpected collection of subjects welcoming adventurers to our dynamic waterfront, but upon closer inspection, the figures offer a peek into San Diego’s rich history ranging from our commercial fishing origins and cruise ship terminal staff to local legends, and even wildlife!
