Public Assistance Wanted in Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision Investigation

On Friday, August 8, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Port of San Diego Harbor Police officers responded to a report of a person down on the westbound lanes near the 4400 block of North Harbor Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female pedestrian with severe injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. First responders immediately initiated lifesaving measures. Despite these efforts, the victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The deceased female has not yet been identified and is in the custody of the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The vehicle involved did not remain on scene and fled prior to Harbor Police arrival. Based on preliminary evidence, the suspect vehicle may have sustained front-end damage as a result of the collision. Harbor Police Traffic Investigators are actively investigating this as a fatal hit-and-run and are working to identify the driver and vehicle involved.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant information, dashcam footage, or surveillance video that could assist investigators, is urged to contact the Harbor Police Traffic Investigation Unit at 619.323.9786 or submit an anonymous tip through San Diego County Crime Stoppers at sdcrimestoppers.org. The public’s assistance is crucial in helping investigators understand the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. All inquiries regarding the identity of the victim should be directed to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
