Port of San Diego Prepares to Host the First “A Day at the Park” Event at Pepper Park

The Port of San Diego invites our neighbors and visitors to join the first-ever “A Day at the Park: A Port Experiences Series” at Pepper Park. The event is family-friendly and free to the public. The festivities occur on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from noon until 5 p.m. This event is the first in a three-part series of multi-cultural events at Port parks along the San Diego Bay waterfront.

Pepper Park is at 3299 Tidelands Avenue, National City, CA 91950. A free accessible shuttle service will be available for attendees from Olivewood Elementary School at 2505 F Avenue, National City, CA 91950. The shuttle will run from the school to the park from noon to 4:15 pm.

Guests will enjoy performances from a variety of local artists, local food vendors, a kid’s zone with activities, and so much more!

This series of events is sponsored under the Port of San Diego’s Tidelands Activation Program in the new Expanded Access Events category, which aims to improve public access to under-activated Port parks via a Port-funded and Port-branded community event. The Port’s Tidelands Activation Program (TAP) is an annual grant program that sponsors large and small events that engage the community and inspire visitors to enjoy San Diego Bay.

The “A Day at the Park” series will continue with two more events happening in June. One will take place in Barrio Logan’s Cesar Chavez Park, while the other will take place at Bayfront Park in Chula Vista.

NOTE: This event was originally scheduled for March 30, but was postponed due to weather.
