On August 26, 2025, the Port of San Diego is holding a second community meeting in Barrio Logan on an upcoming project that will make improvements to the southeastern waterfront area of César Chávez Park. The Port of San Diego is seeking community input on conceptual designs for the César Chávez Park Improvements Project, which is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the park experience, ensure environmental sustainability, and reflect the vibrant, local heritage and culture of Barrio Logan.
The Port of San Diego is seeking feedback from the public on a set of conceptual designs with elements such as new amenities, a play area, and community gathering spaces that aim to enhance the waterfront experience and overall quality of the public space. These designs were created based on public feedback collected at the first community meeting in April, community pop-up events in May, surveys, and input from local stakeholders.
“As we look to the future of César Chávez Park, our goal is to incorporate input from the community that uses and loves the park,” said Chair Danielle Moore, Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners. “We look forward to hearing from the public on how we can best integrate spaces to gather, play, and engage with the waterfront that residents and visitors can enjoy for decades to come.”
To ensure community feedback is incorporated in the next phase of the project, the public is invited to attend the upcoming meeting that will include opportunities for attendees to share feedback about potential improvements and conceptual designs with the project team:
