There were 21 arrests this period. Six were for driving under the influence of alcohol, three for having outstanding warrants, three for being drunk in public and two for battery. There was one arrest each for boating under the influence of alcohol, domestic violence, obstructing a police officer, drinking alcohol in a Port park, transporting drugs and petty theft with priors. Additionally, a person was taken to the County Psychiatric Hospital for being a danger to themselves or others.

The Harbor Police responded to nine sick/injury calls. Most of these were minor injuries resulting from falls at the airport. One person at the airport had pain in their back, tailbone and ear and was taken to UCSD Medical Center. Another person who fell at the airport received a cut near their eye and was taken to Grossmont Hospital. A man who had fallen off of his vessel near Shelter Island was taken to Scripps Hospital with hypothermia.

The K-9 team assisted the National City Police Department with searching a building in a strip mall on Plaza Boulevard for the possibility of explosives or drugs. The results were negative. The dogs also checked an unattended item left at the airport. The results were negative.

Crime reports included a car break-in on Harbor Drive near the Midway Museum. A purse was stolen from a car at the Sunroad Marina on Harbor Island. A car parked at the Kona Kai on Shelter Island was kicked by someone who was causing a disturbance and there was a report of an illegal wire transfer of money from San Diego to Oregon. A citizen’s arrest was made after a passenger on a vessel hit someone, someone was punched in the face near the Bali Hai Restaurant on Shelter Island and another person was the victim of a domestic disturbance near Humphrey’s Half Moon Inn on Shelter Island. Property was taken from the bell stand at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. A wallet was taken from a purse at the Westin Hotel on West Broadway and a reported drunk person was wandering around the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina. A person was struck by another outside the County Health and Human Services Building on Pacific Highway, money was stolen from a tip jar at the airport, property was taken from a suitcase at the airport and an iPhone was stolen from the Sheraton Harbor Island Hotel.

Miscellaneous reports included a child custody dispute at the airport and a reported Homeland Security Incident near the Harbor Vacation Club on Harbor Island. Suspicious activity was reported at the wharfinger shack on Harbor Drive near Laurel Street and someone was causing a disturbance near Broadway Pier. A can of pepper spray was found near the Air Canada area at the airport and abandoned ammunition was discovered near the Southwest Airlines area at the airport. Someone lost a Mexican passport at the airport and an airport employee lost their identification badge. A wallet was lost near the Lane Field parking lot on West Broadway and Harbor Drive, a customer threatened a security officer at the Manchester Grand Hyatt and someone was passing around counterfeit money at Seaport Village.

The Harbor Police responded to a vehicle accident and a boating accident. The officers also provided courtesy tows for a boater in San Diego Bay and the Chula Vista Channel.
