Second Annual People of the Port Career Fair Set for April 16

The Port of San Diego, in partnership with the San Diego Working Waterfront and Port tenants, is hosting the second annual People of the Port Career Fair. The goal is to provide opportunities for people throughout the region to learn about and apply for jobs and careers along the San Diego Bay waterfront. An indispensable economic engine in the San Diego region, the Port supports more than 64,000 good paying jobs and injects $9.2 billion into the county’s economy (Source: 2019 Economic Impact Report).

Who:
Approximately 30 businesses are participating with job openings for people at all education, skill, and experience levels (Spanish speaking volunteers will be present). Industries include:

  • Food industry
  • Hospitality
  • Marine retrofit and construction
  • Military
  • Public Safety
  • Public Sector
  • Retail
  • Shipbuilding
  • Ship Repair
  • Transportation & Automotive
  • Tourism & Entertainment

In addition to meet and greet opportunities with employers, informative breakout sessions are being offered to attendees. Additionally, to help close the gap between education and workforce development, the Port and its tenants are partnering with the San Diego Community College District to share information on how colleges can update their curriculum to help meet hiring needs in the region.
 
The Port is an economic driver for the people and businesses throughout the San Diego region, providing opportunities for a good quality of life.
