The Port of San Diego invites our National City neighbors to join the first-ever “A Day at the Park: A Port Experiences Series” at Pepper Park. This event will be the first in a three-part series of multi-cultural events at Port parks along the waterfront. The event is family-friendly, free to the public, and hosted by the Port of San Diego’s Parks & Recreation Department at Pepper Park on the National City Bayfront. The festivities will occur on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from noon until 5 p.m.

Pepper Park is at 3299 Tidelands Avenue, National City, CA 91950. A free accessible shuttle service will be available for attendees from the National City Public Library at 1401 National City Boulevard, National City, CA 91950. The shuttle will run from the library to the park from noon to 4:15 pm.

Guests will be able to enjoy performances from a variety of local artists, local food vendors, a kid’s zone with activities, and so much more!

“We are so excited to kick off this series of fun, multicultural events at Pepper Park,” said Commissioner Sandy Naranjo, National City’s appointee on the Board of Port Commissioners. “Hosting events like this at our parks is so important because it builds community, showcases local businesses, and most importantly, connects residents and visitors to our beautiful waterfront.”

This series of events is sponsored by the Port of San Diego’s Parks and Recreation Department Expanded Access Program, which aims to improve public access to under-activated member city parks via a Port-funded and Port-branded community event. The Expanded Access Program is part of the Port’s Tidelands Activation Program (TAP), an annual grant program that sponsors large and small events that engage the community and inspire visitors to enjoy San Diego Bay.

The “A Day at the Park” series will continue with two more events happening in June. One will take place in Barrio Logan’s Cesar Chavez Park, while the other will take place at Bayfront Park in Chula Vista.
