Port of San Diego 2017 AAPA AwardThe Port of San Diego’s Green Business Network has received an Honorable Mention in the Stakeholder Education, Awareness and Involvement category in the 2017 American Association of Port Authorities’ Environmental Awards. The Port, along with three other Ports, was recognized during the awards luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at the American Association of Port Authorities’ 106th Annual Convention and Exposition in Long Beach.

“The Port of San Diego champions the safekeeping of the environment and we want to encourage others to do the same,” said Port Chairman Robert “Dukie” Valderrama. “Through our Green Business Network program, we are able to educate our tenants and help them make changes to reduce their environmental impact. By working as a team, we can make San Diego Bay a greener place to live, work and play.”

POSTPONED: Port of San Diego Invites Public to Upcoming Meeting and Open House on Draft Port Master Plan Update

The Open House, scheduled for 10/12/17, has been postponed and will be rescheduled to a later date.

The Port of San Diego invites the public to attend the latest engagement opportunities for stakeholders during the drafting and discussion of the Port Master Plan Update as part of the Integrated Planning initiative.

The next public events will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017 during the daytime, and Thursday, October 12, 2017 - (NOTE: the Open House is postponed until further notice) in the evening. Both will cover essentially the same information in order to provide options for people’s schedules.

Port of San Diego’s 2017-2018 Cruise Season Features Mexican Riviera, Panama Canal, South Pacific Voyages and More

Cruise ship in portThe Port of San Diego is preparing to welcome 83 cruise calls during the 2017-2018 cruise season, with a wide variety of itineraries visiting this inspiring destination. This season Holland America Line remains a strong presence on San Diego Bay along with continued growth from Disney Cruise Line. On Thursday, October 5, the Disney Wonder will be in port, along with Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam.

Approximately 242,000 passengers are expected this year, up from last year’s 224,000. The number of cruise calls remains about the same.

Passengers this season will be able to experience a relaxing California Coast cruise, an adventurous voyage around the globe, South Pacific cruises and much more. The Port’s cruise season kicked off on September 15, 2017 with a festive Halloween on the High Seas two-night cruise onboard the Disney Wonder. The cruise departed from the Port of San Diego for a weekend getaway to Ensenada, Baja California.

SAN DIEGO —To promote the region’s economic competitiveness, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve air quality, the Port of San Diego and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) have jointly developed an innovative blueprint to “green” port and port tenant operations, such as cruise ships, hotels, restaurants, and maritime industries.
