Boaters can Dock Temporarily for free at Coronado Ferry Landing
Recreational boaters in San Diego Bay can once again dock their vessels at the Coronado Ferry Landing. A new public dock that can accommodate up to 10 vessels at a time is now open for business.
The new dock is located in front of Peohe’s restaurant and was built to replace the former dock that was dismantled in December 2007. Because of deterioration, the very popular dock for boaters was closed in May 2006.
In September 2007, the Board of Port Commissioners authorized an amendment to the lease with Port Coronado Associates, LLC dba Coronado Ferry Landing, to replace the floating dock system. The Coronado Ferry Landing paid for the new dock and will manage it. Docking there is free and space is available on a first-come-first-served basis. No overnight berthing is allowed.
The 3,800 square foot dock is constructed of wood and steel. It was built by Topper Industries, Inc. and installed by R.E. Staite Engineering. The total cost for the dock was $1.1 million.
