"We mean it when we say that Shelter Island is 'San Diego's Hawaiian Isle'," said Jeff Foster, general manager of the Kona Kai.
"Our Friday evening summer luaus with authentic Hawaiian entertainment and a delicious themed dinner menu, complement and enhance the panoramic ocean views, the swaying palms and friendly 'mahalo' attitude you find right here in San Diego."
At the luau, look forward to a welcoming lei greeting with a full no-host bar, available with Mai Tais and other drinks. After a brief Conch Shell announcement and Imu Pig presentation, enjoy a lavish Hawaiian Buffet, including Kalua Pig, specialty Hawaiian and Polynesian entrees and amazingly delicious desserts.
Dine elegantly while you take in the beauty and magnificence of Polynesian hula and fire dancers – featuring exclusively the Motu Nehenehe Polynesian dancers.
"This year is the 20th anniversary of the Motu Nehenehe Polynesian dancers – a name meaning 'beautiful island' signifying all the beautiful aspects of island life - the sites, the song, the dancers, and especially the people," said producer and director Babe Valero of the Motu Nehenehe.
The festivities begin promptly at 6 p.m. with dinner and entertainment following at 7 p.m.
The luaus are scheduled for July 9, 16, 23, and 30. Luaus are also scheduled for August 6, 13, 20, 27 and September 3, 2010. It is recommended to wear appropriate shoes for the sand.
Parking is complimentary. Adults are $42.00. Children ages 5-12 are $19.95 and any child under the age of 5 is free. Price does not include tax or service charges.
There is limited seating available so call 800-566-2524 or 619-221-8000 now for your reservations. For more information please visit www.shelterislandluau.com or www.motuhawaii.com.
