North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Joint Powers Authority to Meet August 21

The Joint Powers Authority (JPA) for the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan will meet at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014. The meeting will be held in the Boardroom of the Port of San Diego's Administration Building, 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego.

The meeting agenda includes an update on the project. This will include its current status, schedule and budget, and an update on plans for demolishing the former Bay Café building.

NEVP Phase I Construction Update: August 2014

dsc 0913The North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase I project is wrapping up and the majority of the public exterior areas opened up on July 3, 2014. The overall completion of the project, including the north and south pavilions, is set for the end of September 2014. The Port is planning a public ribbon cutting ceremony and community festival in the fall and will announce details soon. For the latest project information and to read about special events in the North Embarcadero area, be sure to read the latest construction update.

North Embarcadero Improvement Project Nears Completion

nevp0701147854A historic project to transform San Diego's downtown waterfront into a more welcoming destination for residents and visitors is nearly complete.

On Tuesday, July 1, 2014, the Port of San Diego hosted a tour of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase I project for media and other invitees to publicize the opening of public spaces in the project area. The tour focused on the incredible progress achieved since construction began in January 2012. Those present included Congresswoman Susan Davis, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, San Diego Council President Todd Gloria, San Diego City Councilmember Mark Kersey, Coronado City Councilmember Mike Woiwode, Port of San Diego Chairman Bob Nelson, Port Commissioner Marshall Merrifield, Port Commissioner Rafael Castellanos, Civic San Diego Interim President Andrew Phillips; and many others.
