In a little more than a year from now, the North Embarcadero area between Navy Pier and the B Street Pier will feature an expansive,105-foot wide public promenade, public gardens, shade pavilions, new landscaping and other amenities when construction on the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase I project is completed.

As a visible sign of progress, on Monday, May 20, 2013, traffic lanes were moved approximately 60 feet to the east between Navy and B Street Piers. This will allow construction of the waterfront promenade to begin. Additionally, two pavilions that will house a café, a visitor information center, two ticket kiosks and a public restroom will begin construction.

Construction on the east side of North Harbor Drive is completed and on May 20, 2013, traffic lanes will be switched to the east side, allowing construction of the 105-foot wide esplanade to begin.

Construction on the east side of North Harbor Drive is nearly complete and an upcoming project milestone involving a switchover of traffic lanes will take place in early May.

On May 7, traffic will be especially heavy on North Harbor Drive from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. due to cruise ship activity.
