On Tuesday, July 1, 2014, the Port of San Diego hosted a tour of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase I project for media and other invitees to publicize the opening of public spaces in the project area. The tour focused on the incredible progress achieved since construction began in January 2012. Those present included Congresswoman Susan Davis, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, San Diego Council President Todd Gloria, San Diego City Councilmember Mark Kersey, Coronado City Councilmember Mike Woiwode, Port of San Diego Chairman Bob Nelson, Port Commissioner Marshall Merrifield, Port Commissioner Rafael Castellanos, Civic San Diego Interim President Andrew Phillips; and many others.

Public areas along the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase I project will be completed in time for the July 4 holiday. Come watch the Big Bay Boom along newly landscaped areas, or enjoy it from Broadway Pier or B Street Pier. Broadway Pier will feature inflatable attractions for children and food and refreshments available for purchase from food trucks. The Joint Powers Authority (JPA) for the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. The meeting will be held in the Boardroom of the Port of San Diego's Administration Building, 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego.
At the meeting, JPA Board members will select a new Chair. The current Board includes City of San Diego Council President Todd Gloria, Civic San Diego Board Chair Cynthia Morgan and Port of San Diego Board Secretary Marshall Merrifield.
