Officer of the Year
The Harbor Police Traffic Team consists of a group of highly trained officers that are responsible for the investigation of major collisions, injury collisions, collisions involving fatalities and collisions in which criminal prosecution will be sought.
Officers assigned to the Harbor Police Traffic Team have received a minimum of 160 hours of additional training in the area of traffic collision investigation. They are trained in specialized techniques of crime scene documentation and measurement, crime scene photography and mathematical calculation of vehicle speeds. Members of the Harbor Police Traffic Team are occasionally called out from home for major incidents. Harbor Police Traffic Team members are also often relied upon for other types of crime scene documentation due to their extensive training.
The Harbor Police Traffic Team is also tasked with evaluating and correcting specific traffic related problems and situations on the Harbor Police beat. All of these responsibilities are performed in addition to the regular patrol duties of a Harbor Police Officer.
