There were 15 arrests during this period. Six were for being drunk in public, four for driving under the influence of alcohol, two for outstanding warrants and one each for being a danger to themselves or others, not registering as a sex offender and obstructing an arrest.
The Harbor Police responded to four sick/injury calls, all involving minor scrapes from falls. None of the patients required hospitalization.
The K-9 team was called five times to check for explosives or narcotics. In one incident, a vehicle on West Broadway in San Diego was found to have drugs in it. A car near the Sheraton on Harbor Island was searched but had negative results. A vessel near America's Cup Harbor was searched and drugs were found. The team assisted El Cajon police with an explosives sweep of a church before a special event. No explosives were found.
Crime reports included two incidents of property being taken from suitcases at San Diego International Airport. A car was vandalized near the Grape Street Pier on Harbor Drive, a bicycle was stolen from Seaport Village and another bike was stolen near the Grape Street Pier. There was a report of a physical assault near the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel, a report of grand theft at a car rental agency near the airport and a car was broken into near Pizza Nova Restaurant on Harbor Drive. Another car was broken into near the Coast Guard station on Harbor Drive.
Miscellaneous reports included several incidents involving lost items at the airport. Items included cell phones, wallets, purses and identification. There were five reports of abandoned ammunition or knives at the airport. There was a false bomb report, someone tried to access the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal with a photocopy of a Transportation Worker Identification Card and drugs were found at the Commuter Terminal of San Diego International Airport. An employee of the airport reported a lost identification badge, someone went through the security checkpoint at the airport without being properly screened and there was a report of someone interfering with the flight crew on a Southwest Airlines flight. Other reports included prescription drugs left in a rental car and a possible suicide on the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge. California Highway Patrol officers found an abandoned car with a suicide note parked on the bridge.
The Harbor Police issued 88 misdemeanor citations. These were for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, drinking alcohol in a Port park, being in a Port park after hours, urinating in public, having a knife in a carry-on bag at the airport, and routine traffic violations.
