Filming and Still Shoot Permits

Filming and Photography at the Port of San Diego

Welcome and thank you for selecting the Port of San Diego as your production location. The Port oversees acres of parkland and open spaces around San Diego Bay and on the Imperial Beach ocean front, along with maritime cargo and cruise terminals and piers. You will also find a large number of commercial properties leased out to a variety of tenant businesses including hotels, marinas and ship yards.

For commercial projects large or small on property under lease to tenants, please contact the tenant directly. For projects taking place on non-leased Port land you are required to have a Port of San Diego Filming Still Shoot approved permit while on property.

The permit is free of charge, as we would like to encourage the use of Port Tidelands for your projects. If you require the use of Port staff or dedicated parking, fees may apply.

To start the permitting process please download and fill out the filming and still shoot permit application then email your application with a certificate of insurance to:

Once the application is reviewed, we will contact you to confirm the availability of the location and answer any other questions you may have.

Questions? Contact the Port at or call 619-725-6001.
