SACRA/PROFANA, a California-based chamber choir, will provide live performances at the Port of San Diego's Picnic in the Park.

The Port of San Diego invites the public to enjoy a free arts and community engagement event on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Pepper Park in National City from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event, Picnic in the Park, is being provided as a Port of San Diego experience for the entertainment of the community. The park is located at 3299 Tidelands Ave, National City, CA 91950.

This exciting family-friendly waterfront activation event will feature creative artistic performances by Fern Street Circus, including jugglers, aerialists, acrobats, and musicians. Choral group, SACRA/PROFANA, will provide a series of live performances. There will also be interactive workshops on hooping and tightwire, along with photo booths, free refreshments, and giveaways. This event will also serve as an opportunity for the public to learn about community-based initiatives by the Port of San Diego and the City of National City.

“The Port of San Diego is proud to provide free events like Picnic in the Park to the residents and visitors of our region,” said Commissioner Robert “Dukie” Valderrama, National City’s representative on the Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners. “This event will not only be entertaining and fun, but it will give the public a chance to hear about what the Port and the City of National City are working on.”

The March 29 event is part of the Port’s mission to create a vibrant waterfront with innovative public art, cultural programming, special events, and recreation opportunities that enhance the aesthetic and cultural richness of the Port tidelands. With a permanent collection of more than 70 artworks, along with approximately 30 tenant-commissioned artworks and a dynamic curatorial plan focused on contemporary public art exhibitions, there is an artistic experience for everyone around San Diego Bay.
