Robert “Bob” Monson was appointed Port Auditor by the Board of Port Commissioners in February 2013. As Port Auditor, he assists the Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities for the integrity of the Port’s financial statements, the Port’s compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and the effectiveness of the Port’s internal control system. The Port Auditor will further enhance the Port’s accountability and transparency. Monson has been with the Port since March 1993, starting out in the Port’s Audit, Risk Management and Safety Department as an auditor. He has served as the Port’s senior auditor for the past 12 years. Prior to joining the Port, he worked five years in the corporate audit department of Foodmaker, Inc. in San Diego. He earned a bachelor of business administration degree in financial accounting from National University. Monson is a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and a Certified Government Auditing Professional. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Association of Local Government Auditors and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
