Environmental Document for Harbor Island Hotel Project Released

The Port of San Diego has released the icon Final EIR (14.05 MB) report for a proposed 175-room hotel planned for the eastern end of Harbor Island. A public hearing on the proposed project will be held May 10, 2011 at the regular Board of Port Commissioner’s meeting.

The final environmental impact report is an environmental planning document that summarizes the possible environmental impacts of constructing the hotel.

  • The project is the redevelopment of a portion of the property at 955 Harbor Island Drive, on eastern Harbor Island.
  • The proposed redevelopment project includes a 4-story, 175-room limited-service hotel with enhanced public access along the Harbor Island East Basin. The hotel would be adjacent to the Sunroad Resort Marina.
  • The project also includes realignment of a portion of eastern Harbor Island Drive and the traffic circle at its terminus.

The Final Environmental Impact Report addresses probable environmental effects on land use, biological resources, aesthetics, hazards and hazardous materials, hydrology and water quality, traffic and parking, air quality, noise, geology and soils, public services and utilities, recreation, and other factors.

The Board of Port Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on the final environmental impact report and its associated Port Master Plan Amendment at the Tuesday, May 10, 2011, Board of Port Commissioners meeting. The meeting begins at 1 p.m. and will be held in the board room of the Port’s Administration Building, located at 3165 Pacific Highway (map).
