To commemorate the Port of San Diego's 50th anniversary, the Port is inviting visitors and residents of San Diego County to participate in a public photograph contest.

The "Port for All" photo contest kicks off on Monday, June 17, 2013 and is open for online submissions through Friday, July 19, 2013. Awards will be announced for best portrayal of member cities, best example of the Port's missions, and best overall.

The goals of the contest are:

• To encourage community involvement in the Port's five member cities: Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach, National City and San Diego. 
• Raise awareness of the Port's missions: Maritime Trade, Recreation, Environmental Stewardship, Public Safety.
• Engage with the public through the sharing of original photos.

In an effort to bring more families to the San Diego Bayfront, the Port of San Diego is hosting four weekend "Play Days" geared at providing fun, family-friendly activities to welcome in the summer season.

The Port of San Diego "Play Days" are free. They will showcase a variety of children's activities as well as interactive "classes in action."

Preparations are underway for the annual Big Bay Boom July 4th Fireworks Show, one of the most popular events on the waterfront of San Diego Bay.

This year's show, which will take place on Thursday, July 4, 2013, is sponsored by the Port of San Diego and produced by H.P. Purdon & Company, Inc., which contracts with Garden State Fireworks, Inc. for the fireworks and related services.
