In Search of Wilderness by Les Perhacs

This monumental bronze sculpture is located at the foot of the outside escalators leading to Terminal 2's west pedestrian bridge. It depicts two loons in flight carrying their precious egg over a dome representing the earth. An endangered species, requiring a safe, pristine environment to breed, loons stop in San Diego each year on their southward migration from Alaska. The Chula Vista Wildlife Refuge, the Port of San Diego and others work to make San Diego Bay and its tidelands a safe haven for many remarkable species of wildlife.
