About the Public Art Program
Artwork has the ability to encourage exploration and plays a key role in making the Port of San Diego's mission and operations more understandable to the public. The Public Art Office seeks to expand opportunities for the citizens and visitors of California to the region to experience public art that embodies the essence of the Port's maritime, environmental and civic character. The Department encourages the creative expression of artists in order to enhance the visual excitement, aesthetic appeal and cultural richness of the tidelands.
The Public Art Office is guided by the strategy and recommendations contained in the
Public Art Master Plan (66.8 MB) and the 5-year plan,
Curatorial Strategy 2012-2016 (1002.49 kB).
