The Port of San Diego is committed to having an open, public process during the development of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan, Phase 1. This section contains details on the public outreach process.

The most recent public meetings were held on August 18 and 24-26, 2010, at the B Street Cruise Ship Terminal. Details on upcoming public mettings will be announced soon.

Rendering of the proposed North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase 1.Members of the public have another opportunity to hear a presentation and provide comments on development plans and concepts for the North Embarcadero area of San Diego's downtown waterfront.

The meeting, facilitated by the San Diego Councils of Design Professionals, is set for Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Embarcadero Planning Center, located at 585 Harbor Lane, San Diego. (Map) A guided waterfront walk, beginning at 2 p.m., will follow the meeting.

 

North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Joint Powers Authority to Meet on Potential Phase 1 Revisions

A Joint Powers Authority (JPA) meeting for the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan (NEVP) will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2010 in the board room of the Port of San Diego Administration Building, 3165 Pacific Highway (map). The meeting is open to the public.

   

Public Offers Input on North Embarcadero Visionary Plan’s First Phase

thumb_DSC03345CThe Port of San Diego concluded the last of four public meetings yesterday, August 26, 2010 on the review of concepts and ideas for the Phase I portion of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan. The meetings were held August 18, August 24, 25 and 26 at the Port's B Street Cruise Ship Terminal.

About 275 citizens attended the meetings, each of which followed the same agenda. The agenda included a presentation on the history and current status of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan and concepts and ideas for increasing public space in the first phase. Following the presentation, the audience was invited to voice their input on the design concepts and to fill out comment cards. All comments are published on the Port's website under the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan project section.

   

Large Turnout Results in Substantial Public Comment at North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Meeting

About a hundred citizens came to the Port's B Street Cruise Ship Terminal Wednesday, August 18, to listen to an update on the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan's first phase.

The basic design features a waterfront walkway that is part of a 105-foot wide esplanade stretching from Navy Pier to B Street Pier along North Harbor Drive. The esplanade features stands of colorful jacaranda trees and paved areas.

Concept drawing of NEVP Phase 1The Port of San Diego has scheduled a series of public meetings to take input on development plans and concepts for the North Embarcadero area of San Diego's downtown waterfront.

The meetings currently scheduled will take place on Wednesday, August 18 as well as on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, August 24-26. These meetings are scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the B Street Cruise Ship Terminal, 1140 North Harbor Drive (map).
