Members of the public have another opportunity to hear a presentation and provide comments on development plans and concepts for the North Embarcadero area of San Diego's downtown waterfront.
The meeting, facilitated by the San Diego Councils of Design Professionals, is set for Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Embarcadero Planning Center, located at 585 Harbor Lane, San Diego. (Map) A guided waterfront walk, beginning at 2 p.m., will follow the meeting.
The Port of San Diego's role in the workshop is to provide the venue and to make public presentations on waterfront projects including North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase 1. NEVP Phase 1 encompasses an area from the front of the B Street Cruise Ship Terminal to the front of Navy Pier and a small portion of West Broadway from Harbor Drive to just past Pacific Highway.
The workshop will also focus on:
- Pending projects and their relationship to the North Embarcadero Plan and its vision.
- Restating the importance of the waterfront.
- Identification of the opportunities and constraints for future redevelopment.
- Preparation of a phasing plan.
- Discussion of how to fund and implement a North Embarcadero vision.
Sponsors of the workshop include Citizens Coordinate for Century Three; the Navy Broadway Complex Coalition; League of Women Voters San Diego; the Public Trust Alliance; the New School of Architecture; the Partners for Livable Places San Diego; Urban Land Institute: San Diego/Tijuana; San Diego Council of Design Professionals and the Ilan Lael Foundation.
