Ninth Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting Scheduled for Wed., Aug. 3
Contact: Marguerite Elicone (619) 686-6222
The Citizens Advisory Committee will discuss the financial feasibility of potential components of the North Embarcadero Port Master Plan Amendment at its Wednesday, August 3, 2011 meeting.
The meeting will be from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Training Room of the Port of San Diego Administration Building, 3165 Pacific Highway (map).
A sustainable economic framework is one of the goals of the North Embarcadero Port Master Plan Amendment and project components will be evaluated to ensure that they are financially feasible. Additionally, funding for operation and maintenance of the project components will be discussed. Some of the components of the project that will be discussed include a proposed above-ground parking garage versus underground parking and a proposed park at Navy Pier.
Recognizing the G Street Mole (Tuna Harbor Park) as a memorial park will also be discussed at the meeting. The area, located just south of the Midway Museum, is home to the port’s military art collection. The collection honors and celebrates the people, events and military heritage spanning the time from World War II to today.
The Citizens Advisory Committee was formed to provide public input from a diverse group on the North Embarcadero Port Master Plan Amendment. The Master Plan is a planning tool to guide future port development and to ensure that projects and developments within the port are consistent with the California Coastal Act. The committee makes recommendations to port staff, who in turn will present these as alternatives to the Board of Port Commissioners later in the year.
Members of the Citizens Advisory Committee include representatives from environmental, business, design and public interest organizations, and the public.
