The Tenth Ave Marine Terminal is a 384 hectare complex (96 acres) opened in 1958. It is situated along the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge. It is in the center of commercial shipping activity and contains many bulk-handling operations of the port, including a bulk silo complex, a cold storage facility and a traveling bulkloader and unloader for chemicals and other dry bulk products. PURPOSE
Receipt of cold storage products. Equipped with a chill facility to store and handle fruits and vegetables and a deep freeze facility to store and handle frozen products. These berths are also equipped to handle vessel bunkering.
Receipt and shipment of general and containerized cargo in foreign and domestic trades, receipt and shipment of bulk liquids, and dry bulk bunkering vessels.

REMARKS The Jankovich Company Supplies vessels with bunker fuel at all terminals berths through 5.24cm hose connection; one 30.4, three 25.4, one 20.3 and one 15.24cm pipeline extended from berths 2 to 4. Steel storage tanks, total 26,683,114 liters. Each transit shed is divided into 4 sections by concrete firewalls. There is one 15.24cm pipeline extended from berth 6 to 3 steel cargo tanks. Total capacity 11,355,000 liters.

MECHANICAL HANDLING FACILITY
One electric, traveling, bulk shiploader with retractable, hinged boom having a 13.8m outboard reach; boom equipped with conveyer belt & 14.6m gravity chute with dust suppressor unit: loading rate for potash 1800t per hr. Shiploader travels about 152m on rails along rear of face and is served by an elevated, covered, 1.06m, bell-conveyor system. Outer 198m section has water depth of 10.6m alongside and inner
43m section a depth of 6.1m. Bulkloader boom has air draft of 13.1m above mean high tide. Elevated conveyer system serving shiploader extends from a car shed with 2 under-track car pits or silos. Liquid bulk storage facility: One 35.5m pipeline with hose connections on wharf connects with storage tanks.
RAILWAY CONNECTIONS
One 280m surface track on apron straddled by bulk shiploader, joins additional trackage serving terminal;
connects with BNSF and San Diego & Imperial Valley Rwy.
