Harbor Safety Committee Overview

Overview

San Diego Bay (Marina District)

The San Diego Harbor Safety Committee was established in 1992. It consists of key industry and governmental experts with a thorough knowledge of the Bay.

The Harbor Safety Plan, an ongoing effort updated each May, is designed to provide mariners using the waters of San Diego Bay an up-to-date guide to critical navigation issues that will enhance vessel safety with the ultimate goal of pollution prevention and protection of the region's valuable resources. The effectiveness of the Harbor Safety Plan depends on regulatory enforcement and on fostering a cooperative ethic among those who use the Bay.

San Diego Unified Port District's role as Secretary for the Harbor Safety Committee allows us to help in reaching the goal to prevent oil spills in San Diego coastal, harbor, and estuarine waters.
