There were 17 arrests this week. Five people were arrested for drunken driving and six people were arrested for being drunk in public. One person was arrested for transporting a controlled substance and one person was arrested for possessing methamphetamine. In addition, there were arrests made for battery, possessing drug paraphernalia, resisting or delaying an officer and vandalism.
Harbor Police responded to nine sick/injury calls. At San Diego International Airport, one person suffered from severe back pain and was taken to Sharp Coronado Hospital. One person suffered from an injured elbow and scraped upper back and refused additional medical attention. Two people suffered from minor head injuries and did not require additional medical attention. In addition, one person suffered from cuts on the head and wrist and was taken to UCSD Medical Center. At Embarcadero Marina Park North, one person suffered from shoulder pain and scrapes on the face and was taken to Mercy Hospital.
There were six K9 reports. At San Diego International Airport, two luggage bags and a small plastic shopping bag were searched with negative results. Near Marina View Park in Chula Vista a vehicle was searched with negative results. Near Sail Ho Golf Course, in the 2700 block of Rosecrans Street, a vehicle was also searched with negative results. A vessel on San Diego Bay was searched with negative results.
Crime reports included the theft of a life vest, a bicycle part, and other personal property. At San Diego International Airport, a person vandalized another person's property. Near the San Diego B Street Cruise Ship Terminal, someone defaced a wall. Also, a person harassed and threatened another person.
At San Diego International Airport, miscellaneous reports included abandoned ammunition at various checkpoints. There was one report of a passenger smoking in an aircraft restroom. There were also reports of a missing duffel bag, clothing, a hair straightener, employee identification badges, and a visitor placard. Also, an airport employee found medical marijuana in a trashcan and there was a child custody dispute at San Diego International Airport. In addition, there was a vessel collision on San Diego Bay.
Citations were issued for a number of infractions. Drivers were cited for not using their head lights, having an expired registration, failing to obey traffic signs, driving without a license, having a defective windshield, throwing a cigarette from the car, and using their cell phone while driving. Drivers were also cited for not having proof of insurance, running a red light, driving an unregistered vehicle, not having a license plate light, driving without a seat belt, having a broken tail light, having an open alcohol container, and speeding. At San Diego International Airport, one person was cited for having a knife at a checkpoint. Citations were also issued for possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing less than one ounce of marijuana, littering within 150 feet of a waterway, and having an open alcohol container on Port property.
There were two traffic collision reports. One was caused when a vehicle failed to yield to approaching traffic and the other accident was caused by a drunken driver.
There was one report of a diesel fuel spill near Sunroad Resort Marina on Harbor Island.
One missing person report was filed. At San Diego International Airport, a person was expected to arrive from Chicago, but had not been heard from.
