Harbor Police Blotter: February 2 – 10, 2010

The Harbor Police made 22 arrests this period. Seven were for driving under the influence of alcohol, three for obstructing an officer, three for outstanding warrants, three were taken into custody for being a danger to themselves or others, two for battery, two for possession of a controlled substance, one for being drunk in public and one for beating and injuring a spouse.

There were three sick/injury reports. All of these involved citizens at San Diego International Airport. A woman had a bump on her head but refused hospitalization. A woman who was disoriented was taken to Balboa Navy Hospital. Another person's hand was caught in a conveyer belt but the injury did not require hospitalization.

The Harbor Police dive team recovered the body of a male in San Diego Bay.

There was a report of a fire in the laundry room at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina.

The K-9 team was called out to check an office building in National City for possible explosives. The results were negative.

Crime reports included stolen property from a dinghy docked at the embarcadero area, property was stolen from a storage bin at the airport, there was a fight outside Pure Platinum nightclub and a suspect kicked an officer. A car was broken into near the Coast Guard station on Harbor Drive, a woman was the victim of a domestic dispute at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina, someone spray-painted graffiti on one of the buildings at H&M Landing on Shelter Island, there was a hit and run car accident on Shelter Island, someone poured an unknown chemical onto a car on Harbor Island, property was taken from a suitcase at Lindbergh Field and power cables were cut on a business at Shelter Island.

Miscellaneous reports included gang activity at Harbor Island Park, suspicious activity on a vessel docked near Shelter Island, a vessel broke loose from a mooring and struck another boat, an American Airlines airplane landed with one disabled engine, a restraining order was served at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina, someone pulled the fire alarm at San Diego International Airport and there were several reports of lost items at the airport. These included purses, wallets, credit cards, and airport employee identification cards. There were also two reports of abandoned ammunition at the airport.

The Harbor Police issued 57 misdemeanor citations. Most of these were for traffic violations, but others were for urinating in public, drinking alcohol in a Port park, or being in a Port park after hours.
