Harbor Police Blotter: October 28-November 3, 2009

The Harbor Police made 25 arrests this past week.  There were six for being drunk in public, five for outstanding warrants and five for driving under the influence of alcohol.  Three people were taken into custody and transported to the County Psychiatric Hospital for being a danger to themselves or others.  Two were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and there was one each for resisting arrest, selling drugs, being under the influence of drugs and presenting false identification to an officer.

There were three vehicles reported stolen on the tidelands.  One was taken from the General Dynamics/NASSCO parking lot, one was stolen near the Coast Guard station on Harbor Drive, and one was stolen from the Budget rental car lot on Pacific Highway.

In other vehicle incidents, there was a hit and run accident at the intersection of Grape Street and North Harbor Drive, a car hit a parking gate at Lindbergh Field,  there was a two-car collision on Harbor Island and another on Harbor Drive near the rental car return area.

The K-9 team responded to two incidents.  One involved the search of a vehicle for explosives or drugs near the Holiday Inn Bayside on Harbor Drive, the other was a search of a vessel on Shelter Island for possible explosives.

There were seven sick/injury calls.  Three of these resulted in patients being transported to area hospitals.

The Harbor Police responded to nine crime reports.  These included vandalism to two cars, stolen property from a storage shed near Shelter Island, stolen property from the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina and the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, criminal threats, a violation of a court order, a stolen IPod at Lindbergh Field, stolen luggage and a car was broken into at the San Diego Convention Center.

Additionally, there were 14 miscellaneous reports.  Several of these were lost airport employee badges and lost passports.  There were also several reports of lost property.  Also, an airport door was left open, a suspicious person was seen at the airport and two juveniles were taken into custody in Coronado.  There was also a report of a power outage at Lindbergh Field’s Terminal 2.  The Harbor Police were called to check on the welfare of someone and a person who was reported missing was later found.

There were 46 misdemeanor citations issued.  Most of these were for speeding and other traffic violations.  There was one citation given to someone who urinated in public near the San Diego Maritime Museum.  Other citations were issued for possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, watching television while driving, parking bicycles on the sidewalk and having a knife at an airport security checkpoint.
