Harbor Police Blotter: Sept. 16-22, 2009
The Harbor Police made 23 arrests this past week. Seven of these were for driving under the influence. There were four each for public drunkenness, outstanding warrants and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Three people were taken into custody for being a danger to themselves. One was transported to the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital for evaluation. There was also an arrest for violation of a court order.
Four sick/injury calls were responded to. Three of the patients were transported to local hospitals.Â
The dive team was called to recover the body of a woman who had been reported missing. Â
The Harbor Police K-9 team was called to search a vessel for narcotics and explosives.
There were four vessel incidents in San Diego Bay. One involved an adrift vessel, which the Harbor Police towed. There was an accident involving a single vessel, a request for courtesy assistance and a report of a vessel taking on water. The Harbor Police pumped the water out of the vessel and keep it afloat until the San Diego Mooring Company arrived to tow it away.
Two vehicle accidents occurred on the tidelands. One involved a car hitting a light pole, the other was a car that caused damage to a gate on Harbor Drive.Â
There were eight crime reports. These included several car break-ins and vandalism to a park bench. In addition, 20 miscellaneous reports were filed. These included an attempted suicide, a hit and run, a search for a missing person and a false fire alarm.Â
The Harbor Police issued 61 misdemeanor citations.  Most of the violations were for speeding, expired registration, disobeying traffic signs, talking on a cell phone while driving and drinking in the park.
