John A. Bolduc Sworn in as Harbor Police Chief
Friday, 14 May 2010
John A. Bolduc was sworn in by Port President/CEO Charles Wurster as Harbor Police Chief on May 14 at a ceremony at Harbor Police headquarters attended by local law enforcement, military and civic officials from throughout the region.
In remarks delivered after his wife, Dawn, pinned the Chief badge on his uniform, Chief Bolduc pledged to continue the solid partnership with law enforcement agencies and with the men and women of the Harbor Police that outgoing Chief Kirk Sanfilippo has established.
"I will give 100 percent to ensure the success of others in the Harbor Police Department," he said.
Chief Bolduc served as Chief of the Brainerd, Minnesota Police Department for the last nine years and was considered to be among the state's top chiefs.
He has more than 23 years of law enforcement experience in municipal policing. His specialization is tactical teams, training and leadership development. He was involved in the professional training and development of police chiefs and supervisors throughout Minnesota.
A graduate of the FBI National Academy, Bolduc also earned Masters of Public Administration credits at Minnesota State University at Mankato. He has an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Bemidji State University in Minnesota, where he graduated with honors.
Outgoing Chief Kirk Sanfilippo is retiring after a 31 year career in law enforcement that included serving as Chief of the Harbor Police for the last six years.
The Harbor Police is the law enforcement arm of the Port of San Diego. The department's 141 sworn officers and 25 civilians provide law enforcement and marine firefighting services on San Diego Bay, at San Diego International Airport and along the tidelands within the Port of San Diego's jurisdiction.
