Chief Sanfilippo Lauded by San Diego County Crime Commission

thumb_sanfilippoawardHarbor Police Chief Kirk Sanfilippo was lauded for his stellar 31-year career in law enforcement and public safety on January 28 by the San Diego County Crime Commission.

Numerous law enforcement agencies, legal and community representatives spoke about his leadership skills at a luncheon the crime commission held in honor of Chief Sanfilippo's successful years of service and recent retirement.

"It's great to have such a confident and accomplished professional at the helm," said Superior Court Judge Peter Gallagher.

Chief Sanfilippo retired from the Harbor Police on January 5, 2010, but has agreed to continue serving as Chief until a successor is named.

Port President/CEO Charles Wurster and members of the Port's Executive Leadership Group attended the event held at The Butcher Shop Steakhouse in Kearny Mesa.

Addressing the guests, Wurster said he greatly appreciates Chief Sanfilippo's excellent service to the Port and wished him well in retirement.
