Coast Guard to hold media availability on new emergency beacons

Derived from the United States Coast Guard 11th District Public Affairs Detachment:

Search and rescue experts will be available from noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 23 at Coast Guard Sector San Diego, 2710 North Harbor Drive to talk about the conversion of analog to digital emergency beacons. Th requirement will go in effect Feb. 1.

Topics to be discussed include the importance of having a beacon on board a vessel, how the Coast Guard responds when emergency signals are received, and other safe boating practices.
