Green Baking Tips
Friday, 04 February 2011
Thinking about baking some goodies for your loved ones this Valentine's Day? You may not realize it, but your oven uses a lot of energy to plump up those heart-shaped cookies.
The next time you bake, try turning off the oven a few minutes before the recommended cooking time to save energy and cut costs on your energy bill. No need to worry about those last few minutes, there is plenty of heat to finish the job.
Bonus Green Baking Tip: Avoid opening your oven while baking. Each time you open the oven for a peek at your treats, the oven loses 25% of its heat energy. This can result in noticeable spikes in your energy use!
