Beach Water Quality

The Port of San Diego owns and maintains eight public beaches in various locations throughout San Diego Bay.

Beach Water Status
Beach closure and advisory information is provided by the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health

For the CURRENT STATUS on coastal water closures or advisories in San Diego County, call (619) 338-2073.

Assembly Bill 411 (AB 411) was passed in 1997 and requires the testing of public beaches and the notification of the public when high levels of bacteria are discovered. The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health (DEH) presently tests the San Diego Bay beaches on a weekly basis from April 1 - October 31. DEH tests the beaches for total coliform, fecal coliform, and Enterococcus bacteria. Beaches will be posted or closed if measured bacteria levels exceed state standards.

You can help keep our Bay clean by using trash containers and dog waste stations available in various locations in all of our parks and along the Bay.
