Bay Clean-up a Sweeping Success

Large heavy equipment tires, seaweed-covered grocery carts, traffic signs and other debris was removed from San Diego Bay on June 7 during the 18th annual Operation Clean Sweep. One of California's largest environmental events, this year volunteers filled ten 40-yard dumpsters with collected debris from San Diego Bay.

The popular event focused on the Chula Vista Marina, Cesar Chavez Park, Embarcadero Marina Park North, National City Marine Terminal and Chollas Creek. Operation Clean Sweep was produced in partnership by the Port of San Diego, San Diego Port Tenants Association, U.S. Navy and San Diego Gas & Electric.
