SANDAG Honors Port of San Diego with iCommute Diamond Award

logo icommuteThe San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) has honored the Port of San Diego with an iCommute Diamond Award for helping to reduce traffic congestion in San Diego County through its alternative transportation program.

"Environmental stewardship is a top priority at the Port, and we encourage our agency employees to 'walk the walk' by taking alternative transportation to work," said Chairman Bob Nelson of the Board of Port Commissioners. "We take great pride in receiving the iCommute Diamond Award for a program that not only helps with rush-hour traffic gridlock, but also reduces the Port's carbon footprint."

Boaters Learn about Eco-Friendly Hull Paints, Grant Funds at Fourth Annual Expo

hullpaint3574expo2014More than 100 local boat owners attended the Port of San Diego's fourth annual free Eco-Friendly Hull Paint Expo on March 22, 2014, at Driscoll Boat Works on Shelter Island.

The boating community was invited to learn about featured products, receive cleaning and maintenance advice, and get information on Port-administered grant funds available to Shelter Island boaters for repainting their vessels with eco-friendly paints.
