Proposed Project Illustrative Plan (Sweetwater Park Plan) - Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan - Final EIR April 2010The Port of San Diego has released the final Environmental Impact Report and master plan amendment for the Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan.

The document includes hundreds of comments on the draft environmental report from community members and organizations. In addition, the final report provides the Port's responses to the comments.

Planning for the bay front development has been under way for the past several years. The master plan details development plans for 550 acres along the bay front. The project, which is a joint effort of the Port, the City of Chula Vista and Pacifica Companies, envisions a possible resort hotel and convention center, residential development, parkland, open space, office/commercial, recreation, retail and cultural areas. The project will also improve roadways and infrastructure.

The Port and City of Chula Vista have scheduled a special joint meeting for May 18 to certify the final environmental report and approve the Port master plan amendment for the bay front development. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. in the Chula Vista Council Chambers, 276 Fourth Avenue in Chula Vista (map).

The final Environmental Impact report is available for public review in the Port of San Diego's Office of the District Clerk, 3165 Pacific Highway, or by visiting the Chula Vista Master Bayfront Plan section.
