Mark your calendar for the Port of San Diego's public open house and celebration of the opening of the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier, on Saturday, December 18, 2010.
All members of the public are invited to come experience the new multi-use facility.
WHAT:
- Public open house and dedication of the new Port of San Diego Pavilion on Broadway Pier.
WHEN:
- Saturday, Dec., 18, 2010
- Open House: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Dedication: 4 p.m.-6 p.m
LOCATION:
- Broadway Pier, North Harbor Drive and West Broadway
SPEAKERS:
- San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders; Port Commission member Michael Bixler
ACTIVITIES:
- Children’s activities, travel fair, public tours and cruise travel giveaway
SIGNIFICANCE:
- The Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier will serve as a public event center and cruise ship terminal. The modern, two-story center will be the Port of San Diego’s first “green” building. The $28-million project that includes infrastructure costs and the pavilion is designed and built to use less water and energy. In addition, cruise ships that will berth at the pavilion and the Port’s main cruise ship terminal at the B Street Pier will use shore-side electrical power resulting in less pollution from diesel-burning engines.
MEDIA:
- A preview and media tour will be held a week before the dedication. More details will be provided later.
